12/10/14 Congratulations to Naftali for his new paper on vapor phase oxidation catalysis by Manganese Oxide Molecular Sieves.

11/14/14 Welcome to Bosky Parikh and Younghun Park as new graduate students in the group. We are excited to see the phase transitions they will undergo during their career. Dilini is especially happy to see we are getting more girl power in the group!

10/01/14 Kapil's work on HDO catalysis (ACS Catal 2013J Catal 2014) has been making some news around the world, this is a nice surprise. Great job Kapil! Some examples from newspapers in the US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Slovakia, and India:

09/15/14 Welcome to Jaqueline Ruiz who is joining us as a Visiting Scholar from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She will spend this Fall and Spring working at ISU.

08/26/14 Welcome to Phuong (Lucy) Luong who is joining us as a Fall interim in the SULI program. We hope she enjoys working with us for a while!

06/17/14 Welcome to Peter Spurgeon who is starting his PhD program in our Department this fall, but decided to have a head start in research. He will be working this summer with us, we are excited to have him around helping with all the work!

05/27/14 Congratulations to Dilini for being awarded the Arthur P. Hellwig Fellowship! This is a recognition to her hard work and a strong motivation to continue doing a great job in her career. Kudos to you Dilini!

05/27/14 A warm welcome to Megan Jewell (SULI) and Prof. Fengxiang (Frank) Han (VFP) who are spending the summer in our labs. We are excited about working with them and all the great stuff they will be doing in these couple of months.

05/12/14 Our research in biofuel production has been featured in DOE's Office of Science website and in quite a bit of other places. A lot of people were involved in this work, with Kapil being the first motor. Congratulations!

04/16/14 Congratulations to Nick for passing his Prelim Exam, now he is a PhD candidate, which means he has more work to do ;). Keep up the good work Nick, we expect great things from you!

04/15/14 A new 3D printer arrived to the labs! Sebastián, Jake and Zak will be pretty busy building stuff for the labs. This is a collaborative work with the Sadow group, and we are looking forward for quite a few interesting experiments on the road!

04/09/14 Congratulations to Kapil, Nick and Umesh for the acceptance of our latest paper in the Journal of Catalysis. For this work we had the invaluable collaboration of Jim Anderegg who ran several XPS analyses of our catalysts. Our team demonstrated how iron nanoparticles catalyze the conversion of crude microalgal oil into green diesel. This work provides a sulfur-free catalyst that is about 200,000 times cheaper than conventional catalysts for hydrotreatment of lipids, and is another step towards the goal of making renewable fuels more competitive against fossil fuels. Great job team!
